Corpus Christi Medical Center is currently looking for a* Trauma Injury Prevention & Education Coordinator* at our Bay Area Medical Center campus.

RESPONSIBILITIES: * Ensures compliance with American College of Surgeons and Department of State Health Services trauma educational standards. Maintains required documentation to support compliance in conformance with the Bay Area Medical Center. * Leads trauma educational activities. * Plans activities based on Performance Improvement indicators and evaluates the effectiveness of plans. * Plans and implements intramural and extramural educational activities. Examples (but not limited to): Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) and Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC). * Ensures unit specific orientation meets needs for trauma patient care and is a resource to unit based educators when developing trauma orientation guidelines. * Coordinates the annual assessment and validation of priority high-risk trauma-related skills * Utilizes PI data do direct intramural and extramural educational programs when necessary and evaluates the effectiveness of programs * Attends monthly Trauma Multidisciplinary Committee meetings to present information related to education plan, no more than 3 unexcused absences per calendar year. Evidenced by review of meeting minutes. * Serves as a member of Multidisciplinary Trauma Committee meetings. * Performs other duties and special projects as assigned. Performance will be evaluated in terms of: a) level of participation; b) completion by due date; c) adherence to instructions; d) accuracy. * Collaborates with Director of Trauma, Trauma Process Improvement Outcomes Coordinator and other departments to establish trauma educational needs * Provides evidenced based injury prevention activities based on priorities identified by the trauma registry data. * Provides input to policies associated with the job’s purpose and essential responsibilities. * Participates in the CBRAC injury prevention committee on regional safety initiatives. * Participates in Emergency Preparedness. * Employee reflects HCA values and sensitivity to HCA ethics and compliance principles in his/her daily activities. + Adheres to policies on appropriate access. + Respects patient confidentiality. + Upholdscode of conduct.

QUALIFICATIONS: * Completion of a BSN from an accredited school of nursing program. * 3-5 years clinical experience recent Emergency Department (ED), Critical Care (CCU ICU) or Trauma nursing care. * Current Texas licensure with the State Board of Nurse Examiners * Current CPR Certification through the American Heart Association. * ACLS and PALS/ENPC certification within six months of employment. * TNCC Instructor certification (preferred) and ENPC provider verification within 6 months of employment.
