The primary responsibility of the Class A CDL Driver will be to safely operate and haul a belly-dump trailer transporting petroleum coke from the local area refineries to end customers. Savage Services operates as a partner to customers with respect to their petroleum coke cutting, handling, and transportation.
Including but not limited to the following:
Safely transport petroleum coke from the Valero Refinery in Corpus Christi
Assist the operation in additional tasks deemed necessary to meet customer expectations
Report maintenance issue to the maintenance crew
Class A CDL
Must have a TWIC or be able to obtain one
Heavy Equipment experience is a plus
Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English
Can successfully pass Savage's road test, which will include a proper pre and post trip inspection of the trucks
No more than 2 moving violations in the last two years
No serious moving violations in the past three years including: DUI or DWI; Failure to report an accident; Negligent homicide arising out of the use of a motor vehicle; Operating a motor vehicle while under suspension or revocation
Must show a basic knowledge of DOT regulations as determined in interviews
Must be physically able to handle large tools and equipment (60 lbs), climb on and off the equipment, ascend and descend ladders, and should not have a fear of heights.
Ideal candidate will have experience in an industrial or refinery setting
- 2+ years preferred
Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs frequently
Ability to climb into and out of cab multiple times per shift, and climb a ladder and steps 10 or more times per day
Ability to drive and work in adverse weather conditions
