Job Description

The College of Education and Human Development is seeking a dynamic faculty member to assist in the continued development of clinical education for the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) accredited Athletic Training Program. Appointment will begin fall 2018. This is a full-time, non tenure-track clinical position, 9-month appointment. This position will require teaching, service, research or creative activity, and will receive academic release time to serve in an administrative capacity as the Clinical Education Coordinator for the Athletic Training Program.

The Athletic Training Program has been approved to transition to a Master of Science in Athletic Training (MSAT) program with students being accepted starting in the summer of 2019. The accredited undergraduate AT Program is in the process of cycling out accepted students with the last graduating class in May of 2020.

The main responsibilities of this position will include, but is not limited to: • Teaching master’s level Athletic Training classes• Assist with the administrative duties associated with a CAATE accredited AT Program and maintaining compliance with CAATE accreditation standards • Academic advising, mentorship, and research supervision for MSAT Program• Overseeing and evaluation of student clinical progressions, assignment of students to clinical sites, identifying and developing clinical education sites and preceptors. Maintaining proper site paperwork (i.e., affiliation agreements, contracts and/or memorandums of understanding)• Community liaison for primary and secondary clinical sites and the Athletic Training Program• Supporting activities and programs arranged for the recruitment, selection, and retention of students for the MSAT Program • Assisting in the completion of necessary annual and self-study accreditation reports for CAATE, SACS-COC, and the university• Active engagement in scholarship & creative activity• Providing service to the university, community, and profession• Additional duties as assigned

The successful candidate will report to the Director of the Athletic Training Program and the Chair of the Department of Kinesiology & Military Science.

Required Qualifications: • A terminal degree (PhD, EdD, or equivalent) in athletic training, exercise science, kinesiology, or related field and certification as an Athletic Trainer is required (ABD will be considered if degree will be conferred by the time of appointment).• Current Board of Certification (BOC) certification and eligibility for Texas AT Licensure • Current membership in the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA)• Current knowledge of Athletic Training literature and CAATE requirements • Minimum of 3 years of documented clinical experience in the field of Athletic Training • Dedicated line of scholarship, including recent publications, and/or potential for research and other scholarly and creative activities

Preferred Qualifications: • Evidence of successful undergraduate and/or graduate teaching in a CAATE accredited Athletic Training Program (previous 3-5 years)• Experience working with the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE)• Experience as an Athletic Training Preceptor and/or Clinical Education Coordinator • Evidence of maintaining electronic/digital student records (ATrack)• Experience in curriculum design, assessment, and outcome measurements • Evidence of outstanding organizational skills; as well as excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills • Demonstrated commitment to multicultural competence with the skills and experience to work with diverse individuals• Knowledge and experience concerning Board of Certification (BOC) Approved Provider status• Fundable line of scholarship and/or record of receipt of grants • CPR/AED/First Aid Professional Rescuer Instructor
